Rhianna Scott

Tap

Rhianna began dancing at the age of 6 and began competing at the age of 9. She has trained in many styles of dance including ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and hip hop, but has always been most passionate about tap dancing. In 2017, Rhianna attended her first tap event, American Tap Festival in Long Beach, CA which allowed her to train with a variety of professional choreographers from across the United States and perform in their final showcase. In 2019, Rhianna won second overall teen soloist at the American Tap Championships in Long Beach, CA. Some other highlights include attending Toronto Rhythm Initiative’s tour to Winnipeg in 2019, Twin Cities Tap Festival in Minneapolis in 2019, working with Sarah Reich one on one for solo choreography in 2019 and 2021, and being a company member of “Language of Rhythm” pre-professional tap dance company directed by Ella Steele. Through “Language of Rhythm”, Rhianna has been able to learn more about the history of tap dance and has had the opportunity to improvise and perform with live jazz musicians.

This summer, Rhianna will be attending Toronto Rhythm Initiative and Toronto International Tap Festival, both in Toronto. She is also one of few accepted into the Dianne Walker Residency Program in Toronto where she will have the opportunity to train with Allison Toffan, Juliana Kelly, Ian Berg, and the legendary Dianne Walker, as well as perform in 2 of the shows at the Toronto International Tap Festival.

Rhianna is thrilled to be starting her teaching career at Marquis and can’t wait to share her love of tap dancing with her students.
