Kate McGurry began dancing at Marquis Dance Academy at the age of two and intensively trained and competed in all disciplines at the age of seven. While training in all styles, Kate discovered a passion for Hip Hop and began specializing in the discipline at the age of thirteen - a path that opened the door to many incredible opportunities throughout her dance career. 

Her dedication to Hip Hop has allowed her to compete and perform across North America, including appearances at Canada’s Got Talent, World of Dance Canada, Canadian Hip Hop Championships, Artists Emerge, and Hip Hop International (HHI). Kate has trained with many world-renowned choreographers, and Hip-Hop educators, as well performing with many respected Winnipeg Hip Hop crews.    

Kate’s passion and involvement within the dance community naturally led her into teaching and choreography, where her students have received numerous top awards, and as a choreographer, choreography awards. In addition, Kate has furthered her knowledge and expertise by completing her Acrobatic Arts Module 1 Certification. As well, her experience as a gymnastics coach has further strengthened her knowledge of acrobatic technique, athletic development, and student progression.

Kate is currently studying in the Education program at the University of Winnipeg, where she continues to pursue her passion for teaching and mentorship. As an instructor and choreographer, she strives to create a positive, motivating, and inclusive environment, and is excited to continue sharing her passion for dance with the students at Marquis Dance Academy.
