Kira Hofmann

Kira was born in Kelowna, British Columbia. She began dancing at a young age and studied intensively in many genres of dance. She competed for several years and at the age of 13, entered Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. During her time there she studied in the professional division under the direction of Arlene Minkhorst. As a student, Kira received multiple scholarships and represented the RWB at Assemblé Internationale, an Olympic-calibre gathering of the world’s top pre-professional dancers and artistic directors from leading ballet schools. After 5 years, Kira graduated from the Ballet Academic Program with distinction and went on to train in the State Ballet Academy at the John Cranko School in Stuttgart, Germany.

Kira’s professional career began when she received a contract with the Stuttgart Ballet at the age of 19. Kira performed several ballets with the company, including Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, and Onegin. During her time dancing with the Stuttgart Ballet, the company toured and performed in Singapore, Thailand, and Oman.

In 2016, Kira returned to Canada to pursue teaching. She received her Teaching Certification from Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and became a member of the Artistic Faculty in 2017. With the professional division, Kira taught ballet, pointe, conditioning, classical and contemporary repertoire. She enjoyed educating students in the professional division for 5 years.

From 2017-2020, she worked as Artistic Assistant to Choreographer, Jera Wolfe to set contemporary works on Canada’s National Ballet School, The School of Contemporary Dancers, and Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company. In April of 2019, she was the Adjudicator for the junior ballet at the Surrey Festival of Dance in British Columbia. She has gracefully taken on Workshops and Intensives across the country as a Guest Instructor. Kira is thrilled to continue sharing her extensive knowledge and experience of the Russian Ballet System with the students of Marquis Dance Academy.
