Karen has spent a life time in sport as a competitive figure skater and later as a professional NCCP certified skating instructor in both figure skating and hockey programs. As a Head Coach in both the regular and competitive figure skating programs, she trained competitive skaters in Figures and Free Style and test skaters in Figures, Free Style and Dance with the CFSA syllabus.

As a mother of 4, her 3 daughters grew up in competitive dancing and her son is a hockey player. Her oldest daughter went on to train in the RWB Professional Division for 4 years and then left to return to competitive dance in all genres at Marquis Dance Academy, and her two younger sisters soon followed.

Karen has spent the last 7 years as a volunteer on the Eastman Minor Hockey Association Board Executive. She facilitated programs, coach selection, mediation with coaches, players, parents and executive, alongside 18 hockey associations and Hockey Manitoba. A highlight for the last 4 years was being the Eastman Representative for the U18 AAA Midget Female program, supporting the coaching staff, management team, players and parents. This past spring Karen has decided to step away from this position and leaves with many great memories, experiences, as well as new HR and programming skills.

Miss Karen has been thrilled to bring her passion and experience to Marquis. She shares a focus on student development and family support within both our Regular and Intensive Program. Karen's deep love of mentoring, coaching and skill development has been a great addition to our school.

From ensuring our students and families get the support and information needed to achieve proper class placement, to being the liaison between staff, students and parents, Karen brings a true sense of caring and support from our office to the Marquis Family and Team.
